And you can also see how this works with a text layer. And this is exactly what I did in the other examples over here. And now you can see that no matter the size that I'm going to take the layer underneath, we are still going to get a nice divider that creates that LED screen effect. So you can just click a couple of times over here or you can go to the Layer menu, and under Quality, make sure that it is set to the Draft mode. So what you want to do here is make sure that this layer is going to be set to the draft quality mode, and this way, After Effects is not going to interpolate those pixels.

Now, by default, what After Effects is going to do is interpolate those lines, so we are going to lose the nice RGB LED screen effect that I showed you before. Now I'll press S and start to scale my layer. So I'm going to right click to make sure that I can see the parent and link, and then I'll connect this RGB layer to the main layer over here. However, let's assume that you want to scale both of them together. I'm also going to maximize it and basically, this is it. Now, if you don't have time, I can tell you that soft light in 90% of the time is going to yield the best results without taking away too much of the original contrast.

So I'll hold down the Shift key and press on the plus or equal on the keyboard to cycle between them until I see something which works. And now I want to cycle between the blending mode to find the suitable blending mode for my footage. So I'm going to guess that 0.5 is going to give us a nice distribution of RGB colors. I'll double click on it to apply it to this comp, and then I'll start to move the scaling factor to a very, very low number. I'll place it above everything, and then I'll go to the Effect & Presets and start to type the word tile or T-I-L, and under the distort category, I should see the CC Tiler effect. Next, I'll return to the composition that I'm working on. And we're going to give this the right naming, and then we can just make sure that these are evenly spaced out, although really it doesn't really matter. And this, of course, is going to be our blue.

And then again, I'll press Command + D or Control + D on the Windows side to duplicate it. I'll click on the fill and then I'll move this 255, so this will be our green. I'll press Command or Control + D to duplicate the same thing that I just created, and I'll push it over here. I'm just doing it in my regular compulsive way. All right, so this is going to be our red. And then I'll click on the fill and make sure to set the red channel to 255, zero out the green and zero out the blue. I'm going to actually eyeball it to something like this. The next thing is to go to the rectangle tool and to start drawing a rectangle, which is more or less 1/3 of the screen. I'll set the duration to 30 seconds just so I'll have enough content and I'm also going to change the background color to black, although this is a completely optional step. I'll use this preset but you can use whatever size you need. So I'll use the create new composition button here. This is going to be the clip that I'll use. All right, I'll squeeze my composition panel. So let's see how easy it is to mimic a LED screen in After Effects. So here are a few examples of possible usage of this look. I'm Eran Stern and today I'll show you a quick way to create an RGB LED screen effect to simulate well, a LED screen effect, of course. Hello and welcome to After Effects Weekly.
